About me

Laura is a New York based designer with over a decade of design and management experience in digital product and web design. In recent years, a new passion for textiles and weaving has emerged.

My 10+ years of experience at top NYC design agencies have shaped a comprehensive practice and perspective on design. Thanks to collaborations with leading talent, storied brands and innovative start-ups. I’ve had the opportunity to work on massive corporate rebrands, 1000+ page website launches, and nationally televised election interfaces. My work has spanned a range of services and industries, with a recent focus on web experiences and design systems, and past lives in branding, marketing campaigns, and video production. In my last role, I oversaw design across multiple projects and clients at Code and Theory. This rigorous, hands-on work sharpened my sensitivity to design across scales — from pixel details to holistic systems. I honor the creative process from research, mood building, and experimentation, to collaboration, production, and execution.

In the summer of 2024, I paused from the agency world to complete a one-year AAS in Textile and Surface Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. This transformative time expanded my tactile design skills and sparked an unexpected love for weaving. Weaving is like the computer science of the craft world; it is technically complex. As an art form, it has a rich history and exciting future. Working at the loom is like operating a primitive computer, the warp and weft like 0’s and 1’s. The result is magic, color, fiber, and structure exploding together in the woven fabric. The results can be delightfully unexpected, and the intricacies fascinating. This is a powerful medium for storytelling, protest, and self-expression. Gaining knowledge of this ancient art has enhanced my work profoundly.

Today, I am back at the screen, seeking opportunities that bridge my passion for problem-solving and the design world. I am continuing to explore weaving at my 8-harness floor loom, and expanding my art practice.
